Weekly Photo Challenge – Renewal

Lady’s Slippers by Cathy Ulrich

Well, I’ve been wanting to join in the fun of the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge for awhile and this week’s challenge spoke to me. So here goes…This shot was taken at the Atlanta Botanic Gardens in their amazing orchid house. It’s a Lady’s Slipper. I loved the complimentary colors and the softness of the wide aperture setting. It was taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikon DX 18-70 mm Lens. Enjoy!

Oh yes, and yesterday I put up my 100th post! So this post is 101…

Love,

Cathy

  2. Congratulations on the 100.

I love that heightened quality of presence or attention- see the world in a grain of sand, etc- which has a meditative quality. You can evoke that with your photographs.

Thank you, Clare. I love playing with depth of field and focus – sort-of like painting with the camera. You have such a wonderful eye for art – your comment means a great deal to me here.

I’ve heard those are really nice. This particular shot was taken with an SLR (Nikon D-70) but I use an Olympus X-Z-1 for most of my shots which is a bridge camera. I got it because I do underwater photography and it’s just too expensive and cumbersome to take and SLR – the waterproof housings are about three times as expensive as the cameras. And then when I started using the Olympus – I really liked it. It’s go a larger sensor than most compacts.
