  1. I love lizards. I take pictures of them whenever they show up. Nature is fascinating!
    Have a great week, Cathy!

Yes finding peace in the moments that make up our days can bring about a day well spent. Cathy thanks for the share and the fairy dust on this page. 🙂

I am indeed a great fan of E.Tolle. Also the Tao.

  4. mmm. As I recognise the ego-defences, I can avoid them, and go deeper into this way of being, which animals have all the time.

I read Eckhart Tolle’s book ‘The Power of Now,’ because I so rarely live in the now, and I needed something to guide me. It’s all about the future for me. Unfortunately, as soon as I finished the book, I was back to the future. Sigh.

Yes, Carrie. The future is so beguiling for our minds. Did you ever find that you were able to be more in the present when treating patients? I would think that, especially as a pediatrician working with babies, they could bring you into the present pretty quickly. I do find that my bodywork practice does that for me…that I do my best work when I’m fully in the moment with them. Tolle’s “A New Earth” is also a very good read. I think it’s a bit more accessible that “The Power of Now.”

Certainly there were times I was in the moment, but always in the back of the mind is, “How far behind am I? Will I be able to see everyone who wants to be seen? Can I squeeze them in tomorrow?” Ah, such is the world of primary care medicine.

  7. Hm, I’m letting this quote sink in Cathy and I dunno … Being a middle aged woman, I identify with that lizard. I’m at the point in life where I expect to blend in with the furniture.

Great shot! Very cool that you got that critter to strike a pose.

I hope you’re continuing to feel better.

I can relate, V. I think sometimes I WANT to blend in. That lizard was very generous and let me get pretty close with a macro lens to shot her portrait. Maybe my experience with UW photography has helped me approach slowly with camera? I don’t know. And thanks so much. I am feeling better. Went to work all day, yesterday and made it through okay. The good news is I’m sleeping again…
      Hope you’re having a good day, V.

      • I’ve had worse days. My colleague is currently streaming the Beatles. Listening to them always makes me feel less lousy since claiming that I almost feel happy is not in my mindset.
