  1. Another great image with lovely text Cathy! It’s been a pretty mild winter over here this far and that makes me reflect on the pretty mild winter of 2012. That reflection makes me dread what I anticipate will be another blast furnace hot summer. Therefore, I’m actually feeling a bit cynical about spring knowing what could be coming next. Sorry that such a pretty delicate looking flower that has a black belt in flower karate produced a rant.

Ah, V, those thought trains that take us down those dark tunnels! Here’s hoping, at least that the summer of 2013 is more refreshing. As always, thanks for your great comments, however cynical.

  2. Also, you’ve changed the look of your site. It looks good. Very New York black.

Thanks, I’m glad you like it. I’m trying something different to highlight the photos better. With my new camera and intention this year of amping up the photography on the site, I thought I’d try a black background for awhile.

  3. Ooh! New theme! Customised, unless I am mistaken. Lovely.

I think it displays your photos better.

Thank you so much, Clare. Since I’ve been shifting my blog more towards highlighting the photography and poetry, I thought I’d try a few things to enhance the display of the pictures. I’m glad you like it.

Winter always reaches a point for yearning what is to come. Good words for the times!

All this brightness on your new black background — nice! Love the pic and you know, Spring is just about 9 weeks away — do you believe it? We’ve had a mild winter and I’m very glad about that. And, the sun shining today!!

      Hi Brigitte!
Glad you like the new look! You know? I was just talking with a client yesterday about the fact that Winter seems to be flying by and Spring is coming soon. Our Winter has been colder this year, which I’m hoping means a somewhat cooler Summer. Glad it’s mild there after your ordeal with Sandy in the Fall. Always lovely to have the sun shining. Maybe another trip to the beach? At any rate, have a great day!
      Hugs,
      Cathy

  6. I love paperwhites. The first time I had one was when a friend gave me one for my birthday several years ago and it made my apartment smell so good!

I love them, too! And they make fabulous gifts. I gave a set to my sister with a glass bowl and glass beads for Christmas and she was so excited! She has an aversion to plant care but paperwhites are so easy to grow, she was willing to give it a try.

What a lovely picture on the dark background of your blog, and lovely words to go with it. And yeah, I’m ready for spring, too. 🙂

  9. Mmm, I can smell them from here. I grew some myself as usual this year, and per my mom’s advice I gave them booze to keep them from getting too leggy. It worked, but I don’t think they bloomed as much, and the loud parties they kept throwing were kind of a drawback as well. Mostly because I didn’t seem to be invited. Sheesh.

      Jennifer,
I didn’t know you could keep them from getting leggy with booze. I hope it wasn’t GOOD booze, although it sounds like from the parties, it must have been the good stuff. And very rude of them not to invite you. 🙂

      • Nah, I fed them the rest of the cherry vodka. I don’t like it because it tastes like medicine, and since I already only drink for medicinal purposes (i.e. a small amount once a week so I can successfully digest some carbs), I don’t need to have that fact rubbed in any more than necessary.

After all, that’s what rubbing alcohol is for. 😛

Ick! Cherry vodka sounds awful – no wonder they were cranky!

  12. They do truly look like paper, but have a softness. At the same time, your photos are so crisp! Beautiful. Spring will be here in no time!
