Lorita at Benson Park, Loveland, Colorado

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”
—  Anaïs Nin

This is a shot of my friend Lorita. We have known each other since second grade! On one of her rare visits to Colorado, we went to Benson Park in Loveland to enjoy the extensive sculpture exhibit there. I always look forward to her visits and I hope she can make it back this year!

  1. Awwwwwwww, that’s sweet Cathy. Do you ever visit her?

Now the technical question: does that sculpture have a gap or did you Photoshop Lorita into the image? Hey, I knew a guy that Photoshopped himself into countless images of the Beatles, but at least I knew that was all fake and he didn’t really replace Ringo.

  5. Cathy, what a great picture! What a nice way to capture your good friend! Do you have any idea who the artist of that sculpture is? It looks very much like the work of a sculptor from my area who has moments of life sculptures all over the place in many parks and other public places. His name is Lundeen. Does this sound familar?

Lundeen does sound familiar, CD. I think he shows at the Loveland Sculpture Show every summer. I don’t know for sure if this is one if his pieces but it could easily be. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Always nice to see you here. If you’re ever in Loveland with your hubby, I’d highly recommend this sculpture garden. It is amazing!

What a great idea for a sculpture. Plus I know my wife would love to see this one because we have a whole series of pics with her and sculptures …. even made a Christmas gift called Her with the Founding Fathers.

      Frank,
I love the idea of collecting pics of your wife with sculptures. And this would be a great one to add to your collection. This sculpture is part of a large park that is filled with wonderful sculpture. Loveland, Colorado hosts three bronze foundaries and it is the home of the largest all-sculpture art show in the U.S. That show is usually held the second weekend in August. I love to go every year. It’s held in Benson Park where the sculpture in this picture resides. It’s a favorite place to take out-of-town visitors, but my husband and I also like to ride our road bikes down there and walk through the park at least once every summer – it’s about 15 miles away from our home in Fort Collins.

Thanks for the scoop on this sculpture park, We’ve never been to Loveland, CO, but we know it is an area with unlimited beauty. On a side note, Loveland, OH is close to me.

Fun! Our Loveland does this really fun project at Valentines. People can send cards to the post office here and they will postmark them from “Loveland, Colorado!”

I was just talking about this park yesterday with my Mom and Step Dad, who just moved here from FL. I know they will love this one! That park is such a gift. You picked the perfect quote for it. At first I thought it was with the sculpture exhibit. 🙂

Thanks, Aileen. Benson Park is one of my favorite places to go in the summer. Pete and I like to ride our bikes down there and walk through the park. I also love the Sculpture Show. Have you ever been?

Thank you, Weebs! Yes, Lorita is a lot of fun. There is only one other person in my life besides Lorita with whom I can get completely silly and laugh until my sides ache and that is my sister, Becky. I am a lucky soul – I’ve known Lorita since we were both 6 years old.

I absolutely LOVE that the sculptor deliberately left a gap in the circle to be filled by others! Brilliant!!
