“People often say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder.”
— Salma Hayek
Where I come from, Carrie, I’d rather be seen with Salma Hayek considering how, to quote that great mythical American, Ralph Kramden, “humina humina humina” she is.
I wanted a witty comment. Searching for Friedrich Hayek beauty brought no quotes at all, so I settle on this: http://www.csun.edu/~dgw61315/dgwhayek.html The Selma v Friedrich scorecard.
My dear Cathy,
It is healing to be here. It feels like being embraced in kindness. And I must tell you that I think your photography is amazing! When did you take it up? Or did I just not notice it before? I am glad, more than glad to know you. So good to be back. So good to be here. With love, Sharon
Thank you, dear Sharon. Yes, I’ve been doing photography for many years, but recently got much more interested in it because of the blog. I have so enjoyed having a place to publish my photos and the blog stimulates creativity in ways that have surprised and delighted me. Next month, I will celebrate the blog’s first year anniversary and I have been fascinated at how it has evolved from my original intent.
Sharon, I adore your photography and your kind words here mean more to me than you can know.
Love,
Cathy
If I looked less like Underdog and more like Salma Hayek, I might have thought of that first.

Has your beautiful signature style on this, Cathy. I am “beholding” and thinking it’s beautiful. (love the quote).

Gorgeous! Did you choose an iris to represent the “eye” of the beholder deliberately? Very clever. 🙂

Thanks, Jennifer. No, the iris was a complete accident, although it’s certainly apropos as you point out. Love it!
