It really is a world of perceptions. Great image! And thank you again for your thoughtfulness yesterday and your help on Amazon. Your acts of support should bring good Karma back to you. 🙂

Thank you, Carrie. I learned the technique for this photo in a class several years ago. Believe it or not, it’s unretouched! And you are very welcome. That whole thing felt like bullying to me – it had that energy about it. I love your book and my plan is to reread it in the near future. And I can’t wait to read your next novel – I was excited to see on one of your comments that you’re currently working on one.

  5. Cathy, I have two responses to this post:

    1. Captioning the image “Mums in Space” is a home run.

    2. At the risk of sounding high, the colorway brings to mind Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.

Thanks, V. I hadn’t thought about it before, but it is reminiscent of Starry Night. The image is not altered in any way – a very cool technique where I used a glass table top, placed the mum underneath it and then sprayed drops of water on the glass. Then, using a macro lens, I was able to capture the tiny images created by the water droplets – like little lenses themselves. My banner here is shot the same way, just with a different flower. I learned the technique in a photography workshop. I’m signed up for a weekend workshop in May to learn more about my new Nikon D600 – very excited!

Cool photo! I’d love to learn how to do that. I’ve photographed lots of water drops, but have never captured one like that.
