He is lovely in more than just looks. He’s really a sweetie. He loves blankets and bedding and this blanket was on the floor while the sheets were being changed. It’s always tough to move him to finish the job!

You’re right, Lee. He is named for his eyes. When we got him, my husband asked me: “What’s the Spanish word for “sky?” I responded, Cielo – and it stuck. I also love the fact that Cielo is a term of endearment in Spanish. His personality fits for “my little heaven.” Thanks!

Ah…perfect! I understand perfectly! Now…just one last question and I’ll let you go about your busy day…why Italian? You could have chosen Coelho…both Latin and the name of the famous writer or as you’ve written Spanish?

Good question, Bastet. The thing is, Cielo is the same word in Spanish as Italian. While I speak a little Italian and understand much more, I’m almost fluent in Spanish. I did not know that Cielo (meaning heaven or sky in Spanish) is exactly the same as Italian. That’s cool!. Although, of course, it would be pronounced differently. The English phonetic would be Si-eh-lo in Spanish and Chi-eh-lo in Italian.
