Or in this case Mistresspiece. This shot was taken before the performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna. The beautiful aerialist walked among the crowd and I captured a quick shot as she strolled by. This newest offering by the famous Montreal troupe is the best yet and truly a masterpiece – edgy music (by an all female band), amazing costumes, breath-taking artistry and a wonderful story – all presented in Cirque du Soleil’s big-top tent. It’s my favorite Cirque venue and we’re blessed in Colorado to be able to host them at the Pepsi Center in Denver as one of their first stops. Amaluna means “grandmother moon,” and the colors, themes and story carry an even more mystical feel than I’ve seen before – a tribute to the Divine Feminine.

Hi Everyone!
Check out my first interview over at We Drink Because We’re Poets! Bastet has written a wonderful post about me, my photography and poetry. What an honor! She had some great questions and I really enjoyed doing this project with her. So come on over and see what you think!

The Golden Hour – whether after sunrise or before sunset – that time that we photographers seek. When shadows lengthen and the light softens, magic happens in front of our lens. For this week’s challenge, I chose a shot I took last summer in Bastienne Harbor on the island of St. Kitts. Just before sunset, the flag of St. Kitts flies from the stern of the Caribbean Explorer II. In the distance, the cloud covered volcano rises above the horizon on the island of Nevis. I could not contain my excitement as we embarked on a week of scuba diving and underwater photography in the lesser Antilles.
