  1. Yeah, you definitely nailed grand here, Cathy. As Der Bingle used to say, “There’s no doubt about it.”

I loved Canyonlands and Arches. That area of the country is amazing with all the variations of orange and pink. It felt like we had traveled to Mars but with much better climate.

      Hi Sheila!
Welcome and thanks for the comment! I agree. The Moab area does feel quite otherworldly! And the climate is very nice, in general. I especially enjoy the complimentary colors of the crystal blue skies and orange/red rocks. We live about a day’s drive from Moab and try to go at least every other year. There’s just something about this desert country that soothes my soul!

That must be wonderful to get to all those great hikes that often! That bright blue sky with the orange really is striking – it’s practically the opposite of the New England area where I live – maybe that’s why I love it so much.

There’s just something expansive about the West. Although I love New England, too. I lived in Boston for three years and those years were wonderful! I think the wonderful deciduous forests there provide so much green, which we don’t have here. But the open spaces seem to call me these days…

I used to live in Boston too – near Davis Square. Now I live on Cape Cod, which has its moments, but it gets so crowded these days. Maybe that’s why I’m craving that expansiveness. Enjoy the colors and the space!

I was telling another blogger yesterday that although I have no particular reason to go to Utah, I might have to for the scenery. Looks like you’ve confirmed that for me again!

Thank you, Dawn. That header is a shot that I took in a photography class. It’s really fun. You place a flower or some other object under a sheet of glass and spray water droplets on the glass, then shoot those with a macro lens. The water droplets act like little lenses and this is what you get!

      • WAY cool! I have a really amazing photo, a local artist took, of water droplets on dahlia stems. He took it with a macro lens, and when he blew them up, there were dahlias reflected in each droplet!! It is spectacular!
