Movie Monday – Skiing at Breck

Come with me down Columbia Ski Run at Breckenridge, Colorado. We’ll ride the lift up, get off the lift (while avoiding the very large guy who decided to walk in front of exiting skiers), ski the run and finally negotiate the crowd and lift line at the bottom. Well, it really wasn’t much of a line – the only lift on the mountain that didn’t host a large crowd.

I think I love your GoPro almost as much as you do – what a treat!

Now that made me smile. Where did you attach the camera?

GoPro offers many different mounts for the camera – this one is called a “chesty.” It’s a harness that goes over the shoulders, across the back and then clips in the front, so the camera is held securely over the center of the chest at about heart height. The straps are elastic and very comfortable. I’m able to wear it skiing all day.

From the angle, I didn’t think it was on your head. Thanks for the scoop … and congrats to your Broncos!

Thanks, Frank! I tried wearing it on my head when we went diving a few weeks back and I didn’t like the results. Too shaky…

The Broncos pulled it out, although they certainly didn’t want anybody to relax until the end! Did you watch it?

Watched more the first half than the second because my wife (a Browns fan) is still hostile from The Drive and The Fumble from the 1980s vs the Broncos.

  3. Cathy, this is EXACTLY how I like to ski: vicariously — and I am sure some lumbering lug of a guy would be standing like a Lincoln log semi-blocking the path if I were skiing for real. Excellent video with once again perfect musical accompaniment.

Thanks, V! Yeah, that guy was an interesting obstacle. People come off the lift at a pretty good clip and it’s considered good etiquette to stay away from the exit path. That guy walked right in front of me, seemingly oblivious of our presence. Had I been a snowboarder with less agility, we probably would have both been on the ground with me getting the worst of it!

  4. I love it Cathy! Looks amazing! I haven’t been skiing in years and can’t wait to make that happen in the future. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fabulous, adventurous life with us. I’ve been waiting all week-end for this video. 😉
You and Peter have a great way of ending the year and starting the new one with a bang!
    Have a great week!

Thank you so much, Crystal. Yes, we had a really good time, both diving and then skiing. I was telling Peter this weekend, that we got to do two of our favorite things within three weeks of each other! You have a great week too!

As soon as I saw this in my email box, I thought, Yay! I’m going skiing! I’m with Lame — vicariously is the only way I ski.

    I’m loving your GoPro, too.
