My offering for this week’s challenge: A shot taken for an underwater photography class at the Denver Aquarium. This curious and seemingly grumpy red snapper got so close to my lens that I couldn’t focus on it’s face. the camera did, however focus on Peter having a beer in the bar while watching me dive in the Aquarium!

Grumpy. Mmm. Do fish mouths ever turn upwards? Maybe lungfish left the sea cos everyone was just too grouchy!

I was referring to his behaviour, not so much his smile (or lack thereof) but I probably didn’t articulate that very well. When he saw me, he kind of “charged” me like a bull defending his territory. I had never seen that before! Thanks, as always for the comment, Clare!

I’m thinking the fish is sad that he, too, can’t enjoy a beer.

Probably so, Carrie. Maybe that’s why he “charged” me! 🙂

Thanks, Lorraine. It’s not my best, but I think it addressed the challenge. This fish was so close, I couldn’t even focus on him, but I took it anyway because he was so hilarious! I kept backing up and he kept coming!

It was really fun, Jennifer! I had never dived in a aquarium before, but it was the closest thing for practicing photography in a class in Colorado! I really enjoyed the experience!

Like this fish. But where is the photo of Peter?

If you look carefully in this photo just to the left of the snapper’s eyes, you’ll see a person’s head – he’s bald and wearing glasses. That’s Peter having a beer in the bar at the aquarium!

Bravo! I love Peter in the background as much as the grumpy fish in the fore. My first glance, I wondered, is that a reflection… then I read. Wonderful, Cathy!

It looks to me like you found someone who was irked not to be the star of “Finding Nemo” Cathy! I love that fish’s grumpy face — and the reflection of Peter quaffing on dry land.

Yes, Dorie he was not! I don’t know whether he was guarding the window to the bar or what – maybe a fishie bouncer?

I can’t help smiling at this image. I especially love clicking on it so it get’s bigger and feels like that guy is charging at me, too. With those eyes on either side of his head and his fins flapping, he looks so bewildered. Great shot even if he was all up in your face so you couldn’t focus!
That must be some aquarium!

I’m laughing with you, Mary! Clicking on the shot so it gets bigger – too funny! I’ve had damsel fish nip at me in the wild on a reef dive, but that’s their nature, never a red snapper coming at me full face on. Glad it didn’t snap, I guess. It’s a nice aquarium, but not nearly as big as others I’ve seen like the one in Monterrey, California or the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Now that’s an aquarium that I’d love to dive in!
