Living in an extraordinarily beautiful place, hiking is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. While it’s warmer near the plains, when one gets up a few extra thousand feet, it’s cooler and the skies exude an amazing shade of blue. This is “Summer Lovin'” to me! A hike at Vedauwoo Campground Area in Medicine Bow National Forest in southern Wyoming.

As you well know, Cathy, I’m not very nature-y and what annoys me most about hiking is my inability to find the escalator, but I appreciate you doing it the old fashioned way to take magnificent shots like this one. Happy hiking trails, pal!

Really cool, I am guessing it is HDR? Because it has a super sense of drama to the rocks and sky

Thanks, Bruce. Yes, it is HDR. With the dramatic skies and super saturated rocks, I couldn’t resist!

So late to comment and so sorry, C! Isn’t it great getting out in nature when the weather is perfect? There’s nothing like it and we’re so fortunate to have so much loveliness at our disposal whenever we want. I love the oranges and blues of this pick–two colors that so many decorators use, and no wonder. I think it’s so great to get out and observe all the parks that are in our places and spaces. If you’re like me, you always discover something new, no matter how many times you visit a place. After all, that moment in time you captured — there will never be another moment like that. Very beautiful and very cool. Hope things are wonderful in your world, my friend.

Oh, never too late, Brigitte! So nice to hear from you – and it is summer after all. Things just end up being busier! I so agree, I feel so blessed to have these beautiful places all around me! The oranges and blues are such a great combination – and of course, I’m sure you know they’re opposites on the color wheel. So cooperative of nature to provide them for my camera, don’t you think? 🙂 Hope you’re having a great summer. Mine’s been very busy, but good.

This is a bit of a ride from where you live, true? This is so beautiful! Surreal almost. The shape of the rocks is like some marshmallowy creation, that you painted in color. I love this one!

Thanks so much, Dawn! And welcome back! You’ve been missed. This park is only about an hour’s drive away through gorgeous country – often punctuated by Pronghorn Antelope sightings. There are also lots of Aspen groves in the area, so I’m hoping to get back for more photos when the trees turn. I think the yellow and pink would be really fun on a crisp Autumn day.

I LOVE Aspen; such gorgeous trees! There are some pretty amazing groves in CO; I remember going when I was younger. Sorry I’ve been so lame about reading/visiting, but this summer has been so busy, I can barely keep my blog going! I’ll be better as things settle down, and yours is one I try not to miss! (even if it takes me a while to get there 😉 )

We are simpatico, Cathy. I didn’t feel any complaints, but I have been frustrated with myself, for falling so far behind in reading/viewing blogs and bloggers I really enjoy! I’m trying to get back into a groove. Ahh… first world problems.
