Thanks, Jen. I guess they got their name from a group of French Trappers who could not figure out how to get across them. And I guess, as far as they were concerned, that was pretty bad!

Thanks so much, Dawn. It’s such an interesting and beautiful area and I was astounded at how much the formations changed with the movement of the sun. Colors appeared and disappeared throughout the day but this was shot in the evening, which I think is my favorite time in the Badlands.
