Thank you, Amy. This very large school approached from a distance and then surrounded me. I loved how they all swam together all pointing in the same direction. Some kind of universal mind!
One of my favorite things, visually, in the ocean is large schools of fish. Sardines are particularly gorgeous! This is one of those photos that I could just stare at for hours… love it! Your photography always makes me day, Cathy!
I love them, too, Dawn. This shot was taken on our Christmas trip to Curacao. It was a huge school and they came up and surrounded me – all swimming in synchronicity. So very cool!
On first glance (before noticing the fish), interesting texture! … and then I saw the fish providing it. Well done! …. I’m sure you are ready for the latest act of Life: The Musical. 🙂
Thanks, Frank. This huge school produced a very interesting texture. If only I could capture the feeling of seeing it approaching, then surrounding me and then fading into the blue. Alas, all I can do is share the moment when they came close.
I was going to say the same thing about “motion”, but I see a few others have beat me to it. There is something so astonishing about this particular photo that it seems almost like an illusion. It would make an awesome shower curtain! 🙂

I know. This was a huge school of fish and it was so cool when they put me in the middle! Thanks, Leon!

Very true, Cathy, but this crowd is so much prettier than the mob scene at rush hour here in NYC.

It must be a thrilling experience of watching such a large school approached you and then swimming with them 🙂

Cobalt blue makes me happy, C. Great pic and what’s poetry to one may not be poetry to another. Art is subjective and I’m very glad it is.
Happy New Year!!!

I love the blue too! I so agree. Art is very subjective and it also pleases me that it is! Happy New Year to you, friend.

Wow! Were those fish really blue and was the water really that blue, too? Gorgeous.

Yes, they were that blue. I didn’t do any editing on this shot at all, Carrie. Thank you and I’m so glad you enjoyed!
