When I see this, I hear cowboys slipping into chaps and clipping on spurs. 🙂 Lovely.

Thanks, Carrie! And those trails you see in the distance do host horseback riders from time-to-time. We even have a state park which is about 15 miles due north of Devil’s Backbone that has a stable in the park!

Thank so much, Amy. It would certainly qualify for one of your “walks!” And it’s about a 15 minute drive from our house!

Neat shot! Where is Devil’s Backbone??

Thanks, Tina. It’s just west of Loveland, Colorado off of Highway 34 which is one of the main roads up to Rocky Mountain National Park. I can’t imagine how many tourists drive right by it on the way to the park!

That looks like how my backbone feels when I haven’t had enough sleep, Cathy! Seriously, beautiful landscape shot: exactly what I expect from you and your great eye.

Thank you, V! Yes, one can certainly understand where the formation got its name. It is a favorite hiking spot and I loved the golden grasses. This shot was taken over Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks so much, Dawn. It’s a very pretty place during any time of the day, but these late afternoon shadows were soooo perfect. So glad we decided to go in the afternoon!

Late afternoon is one of my favorite times anywhere… the light saturation and contrasts are always so special, and add (in my opinion) to almost any scene!
