Wait…What? Roy G. Biv apparently is an acronym for the colors of the rainbow – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.
Here’s a shot of one such rainbow taken after a storm. It’s the view from my deck!

So pretty. It looks like the picture’s inside a giant bubble. Or else your community has an under-the-dome thing going on. 😉

You’re right, Carrie. The trick here was that I used a fisheye lens. I was surprised at how bubble-like it came out, too. Definitely under-the-dome-esque!

I think of all the amazing photos you have posted, this is my all-time favorite. It makes me happy to look at it, and it makes me think of The Wizard of Oz which was a favorite movie as a kid. I can almost see Glinda in that rainbow ball. And the colors are scrumptious!

Thank you so much, Mary! It does have that Wizard of Oz feel – I hadn’t really thought of that before! So glad you liked it!

Thanks, Janet. It was very interesting how the fisheye captured the rainbow so completely.

We could not believe the intensity of the first lightening storm we experienced in Colorado near Pikes Peak. No wonder Tesla did his famous research there in Colorado Springs. Great photo! Big sky country …

Thanks, Peter. Yes, we do get amazing storms here in the summer. It’s fascinating to watch the lightening over the plains from our vantage point here, too. We see a lot of cloud-to-cloud action in the evenings – quite the show.

That is one mind-blowing shot, Cathy! You could probably charge admission for that view from your deck!

Thanks, V. Yes, it is quite stunning. And we really do enjoy it this time of year as the longer evening light and warmer weather allows for great outside dining.

Oh that Roy … he’s such a glory hog. 😉 … Whereas many would be tempted for a closer view of a rainbow, I think your choice of the distant shot is outstanding!

Thanks, Frank. I also cheated and employed my fisheye lens! It seemed the perfect opportunity.
