So what is a photographer’s muse? It’s that subject that keeps us coming back – looking for a new angle or different light. It’s the object of our affection seen through the camera lens that repeatedly fascinates. I have thought about this for some time. I would say that I have several muses, but my favorite is the red rocks of southeastern Utah – the Moab area. The wonderful orange-red set against stunning blue skies always intrigues me.
Here is a shot taken while on a guided tour through the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park.

What a gorgeous image. Easy to see why those red rocks would be a muse. I imagine it’s a wonderful place to visit to gain some perspective.

Gorgeous! I just met someone who bikes in Moab every year. That would be a blast!

Susie, I would so recommend a road trip to Moab. As much as you love the outdoors, you would absolutely love it. But go in the spring or fall as it can be really hot this time of year.

I am always torn between your lush seascapes, your sensual florals and these eye popping landscapes. The reds and blues are so beautiful, and your eye captures shapes and textures that pull me in. No matter what you print, I’m a fan, Cathy! This is one more of your fantastic pieces of art, that I love so much!
