Weekly Photo Challenge – Treat

Squirrel Treat

Squirrel Treat

Peter and I returned this past Saturday from a fantastic scuba trip to Grand Cayman and the outer Cayman islands. While in Grand Cayman, I did a private lesson with Addie Wee, an instructor at the Cathy Church Underwater Photography School. It was awesome! I was able to take my photography to a new level, so it’s no surprise that my treat is hanging out underwater and photographing the life there.

This shot is an extreme closeup of a squirrel fish. These guys are often very friendly and this one was particularly so. It was nipping at the fingers of the hand that I was using to steady myself to take its picture! I also thought this shot had a very Halloweeny feel. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Very cool, C and Happy Halloween! I must admit I thought this was a closeup of a horse’s face at first, so the fact that it’s a fish makes it even more Halloween-y. ;).

Great shot and hope you have lots of tricks and treats.

Thanks so much, Brigitte! I hope you have lots of tricks and treats too! Actually, we’re having an awesome treat tonight. My birthday was this week and we’re having Maine Lobsters for dinner. Can’t beat that!

Thanks, Frank. Like you, I so savor those learning experiences. This was a very steep and delightful learning curve. It filled in so many gaps in my knowledge and I was able to use what I learned right away.

The more one knows, the more they discover how much they don’t know – thus how much more to learn. Enjoy the journey.

  8. This one is EPIC, Cathy! I love it. It has such an air of mystery and beauty. Love the close-up that leaves the viewer wondering what they’re looking at, and filling in the blanks. Glad you guys had such a great time!

I’ve never heard of a squirrel fish, Cathy. That’s great you got to have that photography session and then to take a shot like this. How rewarding!
