When I want to escape from my day-to-day obligations and activities, I don’t have to go very far. Hiking in Colorado is a favorite past-time and with many trails within just a few minutes of my home, I can escape to a place of tranquility and peace. Here’s a shot I took earlier in the week on the Coyote Ridge Trail – five minutes from my house.

Hiking’s not my thing, Cathy, unless it’s up the block or down the street to the subway. That photo is so gorgeous, it almost looks like 3D.

Thanks, V. Just think about hiking as a way of walking to somewhere, except without pavement and subways and pigeons…

No pavement, subway or pigeons! I have a hard time wrapping my city slicker brain around that Cathy!

It is nice to have a getaway so close, LouAnn. Hiking in these wonderful places is such a blessing. And while there are a lot of people who use them, I love the fact that Coloradoans take advantage of our great resources.

The vastness provided on a clear day must be something!

It is something, Frank and we have many clear days. Because the air is dry and thinner at altitude, we have some of the bluest skies I’ve seen anywhere. And an average of 300 days/year of sunshine! 🙂

Thank you, Gina! It’s soooo good to see you here! And I’m having so much fun with my photography! I went to a weekend workshop with the Rocky Mountain School of Photography a few weeks ago and had such a wonderful time. Filled in some gaps in my knowledge and got a lot of inspiration!

Thank you dear heart – it’s so good to be back. And catching up on all you’ve been up to. Wow! I love seeing Peter ‘in the background’ behind his new best friend (an amazing shot of an amazing experience), and just imagining that you two recently enjoyed a 31 mile bike ride… oh my gosh. That alone inspires me to go on more adventures with my Dave. I’d be happy if we did a 3.1 mile bike ride! LOL. Seriously your photography is showing what you’ve been learning! Dave enjoys photography and I want to show him your tulip shot and your excellent description of what you used. He’s been playing with stitching photos together to create panoramic shots lately and I’m sure he’ll know just what you’re describing. All I know is that your results are absolutely gorgeous! Love to you!!

That’s one of the things I learned in the workshop – stitching shots together as panoramas. It’s very cool stuff! I’m excited to try it! I’d love to hear what Dave thinks about the tulip. Oh yes, and I’d suggest he check out HDRI (High Dynamic Range Imaging) Many of my recent shots are done using that technology.
