A Poem a Day…

Crescent Clouds

Crescent Clouds

Back to Poetry

I’m already late
because I didn’t know.
A poem a day
for April.

Haven’t written any verse
in awhile.
Well, that’s not true…
All those Haikus on Sunday
But they’re mostly
tongue-in-cheek.

Now I have to write three
just to make up
for the past two days.
And let go of my self-judgement.

Fog

It’s foggy today…
Living in a semi-arid climate
My skin loves the moisture.

Water droplets
mixed with cool air
bathing my face

I must remember…
Turn on headlights
when you leave the house…

Electric Fence

Those little lettuces
look delectable
along with emerging
strawberry leaves
sweet, tender
a salad bar just for me.

But what’s this?
A wire I can barely see
Ouch!
Maybe not…

Please don’t get electrocuted by the fence. We need you around to keep showing us pretty pictures and lovely words. 🙂

You may be a little late, Cathy, but you’re certainly off to a good start. It gives me a view of your immediate world. I like that.

  5. Great start to the month Cathy. I love foggy mornings too; such a treat living in the dry weather. Is that a Chinook arch in the photo?

Thanks, Jen! The fog lifted later and we had a nice, warm sunny day, but it’s always magical when the fog sits over the foothills and prairie. You know, I had never heard of Chinook arch before so I looked it up, and yes, I think it is. It sat right over the edge of the foothills in back of my house for several hours and didn’t really change much. I thought it a very interesting meteorological phenomenon. Now I know what its called. Thank you!

I loved all three! I look forward you posting a poem a day. I wish I had the motivation to do so as well, but I will bow down and just keep reading yours!

  9. Wow, thirty poems in thirty days. That would give me serious performance anxiety. You’re off to a good start, Cathy, but if there is a day or two when you’re feeling stumped, I suggest you create your own variation of the Man from Nantucket.
